MEMBER BIOS

Emma Bergman
Sophomore. New Milford, CT.
Emma is a sophomore studying neuroscience and dance. She aspires to go to medical school one day and become a neurologist. Outside of Salto, she is a member of Phi Delta Epsilon pre-medical fraternity and Gamma Phi Beta sorority. She is also involved with Dance Marathon at the University of Michigan and the Skyline Mentor Program. Emma loves being part of a supportive group like Salto which allows her to keep dancing with some great friends!

Isabelle Blanchard
Freshman. Palo Alto, CA.
Isabelle is a freshmen deciding between computer science or pharmacy. When she's not stealing cookies from the dining hall, she working as an intern for Central Student Government or attending events for the club GEECS. She is so happy she is able to continue her dancing with Salto and loves the sense of community it brings her. At Michigan, she was happy to discover her new love for cider mills, fat squirrels, and alpacas!

Holly Borla
Junior. Commerce Twp, MI.
Holly is a junior studying Computer Science in Engineering with a minor in Mathematics. Upon graduation, she hopes to work in the software engineering industry with applications in the field of education. Holly is a teaching assistant for the Computer Science department on campus, and she is a member of the Girls in Electrical Engineering and Computer Science student organization. Holly is incredibly grateful for her Salto family, and she loves the opportunity to continue dancing ballet throughout college!

Madeleine Conrad
Sophomore. San Diego, CA.
Madeleine Conrad iis a current sophomore from San Diego majoring in Economics and Sociology. She is still trying to figure out what exactly she is doing, but in the mean time has Salto, old Parks n’ Recreation episodes, and way too much homework to keep her busy. Madeleine also assists in sociology research on racial and gender perspectives in the Philippines here at the University. She loves Salto for the people in it and the amazing choreography she gets to dance that really make her life so much better.

Grace French
Junior. Okemos, MI.
Grace is a senior studying Business with minors in Intergroup Relations and Dance. Outside of Salto, Grace also is very involved in MRelay, an organization that raises money for the American Cancer Society. She is a fellow in the Center for Positive Organizations, a research assistant in the Management and Organizations department in the Ross School of Business, as well as Co-president/founder of the Michigan Red Heads club. Her hobbies outside of dance include snacking and watching Netflix. Grace appreciate the joy and friendship that Salto has brought her over the past 3.5 years, and can't imagine a college experience without Salto.

Shirley Jiang
Freshman. Vancouver, British Columbia, Canada.
Shirley is currently a freshman who is still very much undecided about her major, but as of now, she thinks she will be heading down the business path. Other than Salto, Shirley is involved with the Freshman Business Club, in which she is also a board member of the Case Competition Committee. In her free time, Shirley enjoys watching TV shows (and ballet videos) and eating good food with her friends.

Natasha Konanahalli
Junior. Canton, MI.
Natasha is a junior studying Mechanical Engineering. She comes to Ann Arbor all the way from her hometown Canton, Michigan. In her free time she enjoys spending time with her friends and family who hold a special importance in her life. She is especially glad she joined Salto Dance Company her freshman year of college. The company has given her the great opportunity to continue dancing and finding new creative ways to choreograph. Most of all though, she loves all of the wonderful girls that she has met in the company and the time she has spent with them both inside and outside the studio.

Kyle LaCroix
Freshman. Basalt, CO.
Kyle, a freshman, grew up in the mountains of Colorado. In addition to dancing she is a member of the UM Ski Team and enjoys hiking and exploring the outdoors. She is excited about being at the University of Michigan where she hopes to take classes in some of the many things she is passionate about including environmental studies and the arts. Being a part of the Salto Dance Company has been one of the highlights of her first semester and she looks forward to the years ahead with her new dance family.

Karuna Mizusaki
Senior. Canton, MI.
Karuna is currently a senior majoring in Biopsychology, Cognition, and Neuroscience, with plans to graduate in April 2017. Karuna can often be found talking about her biggest passion known as Camp Kesem, a summer camp for kids with a parent affected by cancer in Metro-Detroit (ask her about Camp Kesem)! She also loves her job at the Inpatient Psychiatry Unit at C.S. Mott Children’s Hospital; she dreams of someday working in the field of child and adolescent psychiatry as well. Karuna joined Salto her freshman year and could not be more grateful to have spent the last three years dancing with Salto instead of forcing herself to learn how to use the gym and do cardio!

Gina Newsome
Senior. West Bloomfield, MI.
Gina is a senior from West Bloomfield, Michigan studying Biomolecular Science with a minor in Spanish. Besides Salto Dance Company, she enjoys teaching organic chemistry, working at U of M's Cancer Center, and volunteering at Mott's Children's Hospital. After graduation, she hopes to attend medical school and become a pediatric oncologist. She enjoys spending time with her pets, and eating peanut butter out of the jar.

Natsume Ono
Freshman. Ann Arbor, MI.
Natsume is a freshman studying architecture at the Taubman College of Architecture and Urban Planning. She is in the Lloyd Hall Scholars Program, where she is also in the Arts Movements and Mediums Club. She is also a part of K-Grams, a pen pal system with local public schools, and she enjoys writing to her pen pal every month. She is so grateful to have found Salto, and to have the opportunity to dance with this wonderful group of people.

Emilia Parks
Freshman. Traverse City, MI.
Emilia is a freshman studying vocal performance. She plans on completing her undergraduate degree at the University of Michigan, then fulfilling her Master’s degree in Vocal Performance and finally traveling to share her passion of music with others around the globe. In her free time Emilia enjoys surfing, having long talks with friends, choreographing dances, baking cupcakes and sliding around in fuzzy socks.Salto has helped Emilia regain her love for dance, relieved her mind from stress and has introduced to her some new and wonderful friends. Emilia has been dancing for sixteen years.

Lili Pfeifer
Freshman. Grand Rapids, MI.
Lili is a freshman hoping to study the biological sciences with a minor in Spanish on the pre-medicine track. She is currently involved in the Undergraduate Research Opportunities Program, where she works in the Department of Nutritional Sciences in the U-M School of Public Health. She is also a member of the Michigan Animal Respect Society. Lili loves her Salto family and is so thankful that Salto has given her the opportunity to continue dancing in college.

Caroline Richburg
Sophomore. Jacksonville, FL.
Caroline is a sophomore studying Biomolecular Science and Anthropology. She hopes to attend medical school to combine the two fields and work with underserved populations. Outside of Salto, she works in a research lab studying pulmonary fibrosis, serves as the Outreach Chair for the Culture of Medicine Club, volunteers with elderly patients at the hospital, and sits on the Michigan Union Board of Representatives. Caroline loves traveling, running, yoga, and dancing through life with the Salto family!

Patricia Sholtis
Senior. Saline, MI.
Patricia is a senior in the Ross School of Business studying accounting. In all her spare time from school and homework she enjoys choreographing and teaching at her home studio in Ann Arbor. Patricia has recently become involved in the Miss America Organization and will be competing for the title of Miss Michigan this summer in addition to completing a second internship with the accounting firm PricewaterhouseCoopers. Earlier this year she accepted a full-time offer with PwC and plans to start working full-time in fall 2018 after completing a year of graduate school for her Master's of Accounting.

Nia Vrana
Sophomore. Laingsburg, MI.
Nia is a second year student studying Neuroscience from Laingsburg, Michigan. Nia started ballet at age 6. Throughout grade school, she danced at various studios in the Lansing area including Spirit Expressions Studio of Dance, Happendance, Dancewerks, and Children’s Ballet Theatre of Lansing. In the summer of 2014, she attended the American Ballet Theatre North Carolina Intensive, and the following summer attended the Joffrey Chicago Intensive. Though classical ballet has been her focus, she also enjoys Jazz, Tap, and contemporary.
